Vikki McGinn selected for Bord Gáis Energy team of the Year

Congratulations to Vikki McGinn on her well deserved selection for the Bord Gáis Energy All County Team of Year. She will represent Louth and the Newtown Blues at the award ceremony on Tuesday night 22nd May in Croke Park. Well done Vikki.

Newtown Blues G.F.C. celebrates 125 years in existence!!

The Newtown Blues G.F.C. was founded on 12^th July 1887 and is getting ready for a great year of gaelic as they prepare for their 125 years anniversary.

125 Year Celebration Events
2012 marks the 125th anniversary and the club endeavours to make this a memorable one for the club members and community.

18^th May - Photo Exhibition Launch in Barbican 7.30pm-9.30pm – Light refreshments and food will be served on the night and the exhibition will remain open for 2 weeks. This will be a real treat to realize what we the Blues are all about. Take pride in our past and embrace the future. This will hopefully bring many down memory lane and the new members up to speed on the legacy.

·       June 22^nd-24^th U14 Feile Peil in Portlaois- The Blues are proud of the work the U14 team have being doing in their preparations to represent Louth at the Feile competition. Good luck lads.

·       June –Kick the Ball to Croker- this will give the younger members a chance to have fun and fundraise for the club. Sponsor cards will be given to each child who will collectively kick the ball to Croker. More details to follow.
   July 9^th – 13^th Cul Camp in the Blues- look out for the €5 discount codes on Kelloggs cereals for the cul camp.

The death of a true Gael

The Newtown Blues would like to extend their condolences to the family and friends of Charlie McAllister who sadly passed away Tuesday 17th April. Charlie was a true gentleman and huge supporter of the GAA. He will be greatly missed on the sidelines of the Ireland, Louth and Blues matches. He went out on a high celebrating a Louth victory. Charlie's passion was to promote the GAA and we hope that we can continue on with his legacy. We were honoured to have Charlie associated with our club and the GAA will greatly miss his contributions. Charlie ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

Charlie's Month's Mind mass is on Sunday 20th May at 12 noon in Our Lady of Lourdes Church.
