125 Year Celebration Events

·      March 17th St. Patricks Day Parade- The Newtown Blues would like all players and families to join in the parade to mark the start of 125years celebrations. Meet in O’Raghallaigh’s at 10.30am and wear the team colours. Theme ‘When Irish eyes are smiling’. There will be a prize for the most innovative Blues parader –not just for the children, we welcome the adults to get innovative too. Please confirm attendance by sending a text to Orlaith 086 8140876.

·      April 14th 10am-12- The Blues welcome Sam Maguire- A morning with Sam in the Blues. A special treat will be in store for all. Get the cameras ready for some great pictures and a chance to see Sam up close and personal.

·      April 14th - Annual sponsored cycle - 125km cycle to Hayes Hotel Thurles where the GAA was founded

·      May - Photo Exhibition - Displayed in various locations in the town with the main display event unveiled on 12th July 2012 in the Clubhouse exactly 125 years to the day of the foundation of the Club. (if you have any photos or articles about the club please send to shanenugent2000@yahoo.ie). This will hopefully bring many down memory lane and the new members up to speed on the legacy.

·      June 22nd-24th U14 Feile Peile in Laois/Offaly

·      July 9th – 13th Cul Camp in the Blues

·      June/July - There will be numerous fun days for the children over the summer months, along with coaching seminars for the mentors.

·      July 12th- 15th  Special events with exciting treats to be unveiled

·      September - 12.5km fun run taking in the sites of the Newtown Blues catchment area

·      October - Exhibition Match

November 10th - Gala Ball to round off a memorable year of celebrations.
